Fresno Infill
Bend, Oregon

Another of our small in-fill projects.  The Berg house was a study in small spaces that live large.  At just over 1,400 square feet, the home contains a fairly standard 3 bedroom 2 bath layout.  The great room with the centrally located kitchen with seating bars on two sides allows for a large, connected great room gathering space for friends and family.  The remaining outdoor space on the property is maximized with three patios featuring different orientations and levels of protection, offering usable outdoor living areas at different times of day throughout different seasons.

The cedar slat covered enclosed front porch provides a private area for the owner’s tradition cedar soaking tub.   Raised beds and fruit trees provide fresh fruit and garden greens for the young family, while the series of cast concrete retaining and screen walls at the entry stairs provide just the right balance of privacy and connection to the neighborhood.

The home was built on a substantially tighter budget than many of our custom homes, but the goal of maintaining very high construction and finish material quality was achieved.   The cement plaster siding, cedar soffits, hardwood flooring and cedar siding combine for a durable and attractively finished small-home.
