Sven’s
Oregon

A modern take on a traditional home for a Scandinavian family who has settled in the Pacific Northwest. Sven’s House, named after the Maine Coon cat who rules the roost, was envisioned as a gathering place for friends and family.

On the south side of the home a private courtyard with a custom plate-steel water feature trough acts as a greeting space for visitors or a perch for morning coffee.  On the northwest side of the home a covered patio sitting area features recessed soffit heaters and shades which can be deployed from the soffit to create a protected outdoor living room.  An adjacent custom in-ground fire pit and outdoor dining area allow the owners to live and entertain outdoors year round.

On the interior of the home gathering areas are created with multiple islands in the kitchen, the custom bar near the living room, the media room, and the cozy breakfast nook. Custom oak casework by AC Woodcraft and large oak beams add warmth to the modern, open interior spaces.

A private balcony from the the home-office offers views of the Cascade Mountains through Ponderosa pine boughs.

Sven keeps an eye on proceedings from the home’s custom walnut breakfast nook.
