Oregon Home
Central Oregon

Nestled in the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest, this custom residence is a modern expression of the region’s independent spirit and deep connection to nature. Designed to blend harmoniously with its surroundings, the home is crafted with an array of locally sourced materials that embody Cascadian authenticity. Reclaimed Douglas fir floor planks provide warmth and character underfoot, while weathered gray fir rainscreen siding enhances the exterior’s rustic elegance. Inside, Oregon black walnut cabinetry and black basalt quarried from Central Oregon offer rich textures and grounding elements, while laminated fir beams highlight the home’s architectural precision.

The design embraces the Northwest ethos of living in harmony with the outdoors. Expansive sliding glass walls on both sides of the grand room open to the landscape, creating a fluid connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. These walls allow the home to adapt effortlessly to the time of day or season—whether enjoying the morning light on the east-facing patio or escaping the afternoon heat beside the west-facing pool. Beyond its aesthetic and recreational appeal, the in-ground pool serves a vital practical purpose as a water source for wildfire mitigation, reflecting the home’s thoughtful integration of resilience and beauty.

A focus on sustainability underpins the home’s design. A 28kW photovoltaic array on the roof powers the home, while a battery backup and rainwater harvesting system provide added self-sufficiency. The home is pre-wired for back-charging of the home from an EV, to provide power for extended periods if ever needed.  Together, these systems ensure that the home remains functional during power outages and provide essential resources for the exterior sprinkler system in the event of a wildfire.

Outdoor spaces are designed for both comfort and drama. A recessed firepit under a covered patio offers a cozy gathering spot to enjoy sunsets over the Cascade Mountains, while the curated artwork inside celebrates the rich history and movements of the American West, enhancing the home’s connection to place.

This residence is more than a home; it is a sanctuary that honors the Northwest lifestyle—modern, sustainable, and deeply rooted in its natural environment.
